Chlorine dose calculator

From the free chlorine you have now to the level you want, for your pool's litres. The same amounts the app works out.

Your water

How it works

Enter the free chlorine you have now, the free chlorine you want, and the pool volume in litres. Pick the product you are adding.

The amount is the same figure the app gives when it raises chlorine. It scales with the volume (per 1,000 litres) and the gap in ppm. This calculator starts at 3.0 ppm, the top of the 1.0–3.0 ppm range. That suits an uncovered outdoor pool with stabiliser: stabiliser holds some chlorine back, and NSW public-pool rules use 3.0 ppm for stabilised outdoor pools.

Keep your pool under a cover with no stabiliser? Set the target to 1.5–2.0 ppm. The cover keeps the sun off the chlorine, and lower chlorine helps the cover last. Anywhere from 1.0 to 3.0 ppm is in range.

Liquid chlorine (sodium hypochlorite) and granular chlorine (calcium hypochlorite) are the chlorine products the app calculates. It does not ask for a percentage strength — there is one figure for liquid chlorine.

Always follow the product label directions.

A dose plan for the whole test

Your Pool Mate lines chlorine up with pH, alkalinity and the rest of the test, in the right order for your pool, and keeps the record. The trial is free for 30 days.
